STRONG GEARBOXES FOR PERFORMANCE CARS
All the gearboxes feature:-
1- Computer designed tooth profiles with tip relief to keep wear to a minimum and strength to a maximum same design is used in the latest spec F1 gearboxes.
2- All of our gearboxes have a full compliment of needle roller bearings unlike some suppliers.
3- In most cases all gearboxes are designed for the individual changing of ratios with minimal fuss.
4- For all of our more popular selling boxes we keep a stock of replacement items so as spare parts are never far away.
5- Our latest gearboxes incorporate 5 and 6 dog gear engagement systems. The advantage of these systems is for ease of gear changing with the minimal of fuss. This has allowed for the use of dog engagement gearboxes on the street, which was once thought of as impossible.
6- All our high performance gearboxes use straight cut gears. The advantage of this is that these gears give ZERO thrust, therefore less friction on gears and bearings. This gives us less case distortion and minimal horsepower loss under high load.
7- Our gearboxes are on average designed with gear face widths much wider than that of standard. This is done for two reasons. One is for maximum strength; the other is maximum tooth area for reduced wear and longevity.
8- Gears are a minimum %50 stronger than standard due to the same design principals used in F1. Different parameters are taken into consideration in the design of each gearbox. This is done to achieve optimum tooth operating pressure angles and contact ratios for strength and life.
9- All gears are made from the latest spec materials. After machining the material is then put through a computer controlled atmosphere gas carburising process, then core refined for better grain structure and higher material density. They are then shotpeened and then glass beaded.
10- Some of the gear set come supplied with billet chrome molly steel forks as some gearboxes are prone to fork breakage. This is especially noticeable in the Subaru WRX gearboxes.
11- All gearboxes are designed with no need for case machining. We assemble ALLOT of gearboxes ourselves, so we know the hassle incorporated with having to machine gearbox casings and understand that not everyone has easy access to a machine shop. Although some times there might be a need to modify a case to give the gearbox OPTIMUM STRENGTH!
12- None of our gearboxes have been finished assembled and been found to be heavier than original. Therefore reducing rotating mass in the drive line and increasing car response in all aspects (braking, accelerating and cornering) In most cases our gearboxes nearly always come in lighter than standard. For example our 5spd Nissan GTR gearbox comes in just under 5.5 kilos (12.1 lbs) lighter than standard, AND STRONGER!!
