DRIVE TRAIN

With all or even some of these changes the clutch or auto trans will need strengthening. Clutch we go to a carbon ceramic mix with stronger clutch springs. Autos we go to a full time lube set up add extra clutch plates, kevlar bands welded and modify to shift faster and harder instead of slush box feeling of standard transmission, plus a few other tricks.

SUSPENSION

With the Skylines and particularly the 300 ZX they have no adjustment in the front end for camber or caster so what you get is what you get. When they are lowered this accentuates or increases more negative camber by changing the geometry of the cars suspension. Also often they are out of spec due to wear and the odd bump or accident.

This causes excessive tyre ware and unstable handling and braking. Even if the car is within spec they are still uneven. We have designed adjustable radius rods and camber kits for these cars. For camber either total replacement of the upper control arms for R32 GTS & GTR & 300 ZX or option of replacement camber pins in urethane or rear upper adjustable rose jointed control arms for the GTS & GTR R33. All camber and caster kits use urethane that has been tested to get the correct compound.

With the adjustable upper control arms there is about 2 degrees adjustment most of which is for more positive adjustment, and up to 1 degree with the camber pins and ½ degree with the R33 as it only replaces the outer bush. The car steers more precise to and easier and won't wear out unlike the factory ones. GTR's in particular being progressive four wheel drive put a lot of strain on the radius rods and the standard ones being a silicone filled rubber bush have too much flex especially if they have over standard horse power. This is why they tend to walk around corners, or get a vague feeling in front end, this in turn puts added strain on the standard upper control arms, designed to move up and down only so they wear out.

We recommend Dobinson Springs, an Australian company that make progressive rate springs, both normal type and also coil overs. Progressive rate springs means the top part of the spring is a different tension or resistance to the bottom part. This allows comfort under normal driving conditions so you don't feel every pebble on the road and when cornering hard the spring compresses and the stiffer rating part of the spring comes into action for handling. Also the car doesn't skip around too much by having too hard springs and they have more scope to be matched to standard shocks or upgraded sports shocks.

LIGHTS

We also carry a range of Super white globes from $45.00 a pair, and also replacement globes for cars including 300 ZX and Skylines. They are a much brighter and white in colour, similar to the Xenon lights that come standard on the late model R33 GTR and the R34's, instead of yellowish dull factory globes.

They are twice as bright whilst drawing the same power, and it is like driving in daylight.
Can use for high and low beam. A great extra for the performance driver.

BRAKING ENHANCEMENTS
Brakes are a critical part of your car. Upgrading your braking systems is important particularly on modified cars which are putting out greater power than standard.

Improving your braking can be as simple as fitting a set of heavy duty pads or replacing your exisiting rotors with slotted or cross drilled alternatives, or as full on as fitting a much larger brake kit from the likes of AP Racing, GREX etc.

We use and recommend DBA brake rotors and have a variety of aftermarket brake pads available to suit your application.

FLYWHEEL UPGRADES
For the serious performance buff a lightened flywheel. 3 kilos lighter or more (Car dependant) than factory makes all the difference! With less weight for the engine to push it revs eaiser and quicker. Also the billet steel construction makes it strong.


FUEL ADDITIVES

As always, we test products and confirm claims before we recommend anything.  We are very impressed with this product and have researched it thoroughly.  The inventor and owner Geoff West from Perth has been to our shop and our race days numerous times.  He knows his stuff and has a vast experience in racing sprint cars. 

Our tests include a day at Wakefield Racetrack in an R33 GTR with a Power FC Computer, with digital display, showing the amount of knock in the motor.  We were able to get 6 degrees more advance after adding the product which is good for 30 plus HP.  On the dyno, without changing anything in a 300ZX TT, we found a real 8hp more power at the wheels mainly in mid range and up.

Also the product is non toxic and has no side effects, unlike many of the competition which leave a film on plugs and may increase octane but fowl plugs.

The product contains Viscone which in the yellow bottle cleans injectors, valves as well as increase octane 40 points or 4 Ron over standard fuel and increases fuel economy.

In the article from Fast 4s, Dec 1999 issue they used a Knockmeter to measure performance.  The results from these measurements, which are very accurate are displayed in an extract from their article opposite.  The real test confirming this is MR Dyno and Mr Racetrack.

AIR FUEL MIXTURES
Air Fuel ratio analyser testing a R33 GTR showed the vehicle was running very rich, especially at idle. On further investigation the oxygen sensors were faulty.

We use the latest M & W Air Fuel Ratio exhaust analyser to fault find and also to program after market computers and Apexi Super AFC fuel computers to get the ideal air fuel ratio. This is done in real time whilst driving the car on the road. The cars especially the Nissans run way too rich and with the fine tuning they run smoother, more responsive and around 10 to 20KW more power at the wheels whilst using less fuel and not choking up the engine or the environment as much. Also note our technicians are also using Accurate boost gauge and fuel pressure gauge.

We now have the latest high-tech equipment including a 5 gas air fuel ratio exhaust analyzer for accurate  real time tuning on road. Large back-lit multi-funtion touch screen. For best performance and  response and safety so your car is not running dangerously lean on higher boost. We also use a Pro Tuner device which logs Knock, rpm,boost, and air fuel ratio for accurate and safe tuning. This is used both on our dyno and on the road.
